Better Health Isn't Hard

Dr Mercola re-printed the following list (7 foods to avoid) copied from Yahoo Shine November. It should be read by all who are interested in better health. I have added more advice for improving your overall health. You are free to copy this entire article and keep it for reference.
  1. Canned Tomatoes
The expert: Fredrick vom Saal, PhD, an endocrinologist at the University of Missouri who studies bisphenol-A has this advise about canned tomatoes. The resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol-A, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to ailments ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Acidity -- a prominent characteristic of tomatoes -- causes BPA to leach into your food.

  2. Corn-Fed Beef
The expert: Joel Salatin, co-owner of Polyface Farms and author of books on sustainable farming says: Cattle were designed to eat grass, not grains. But farmers today feed their animals corn and soybeans, which fatten up the animals faster for slaughter. A recent comprehensive study found that compared with corn-fed beef, grass-fed beef is higher in beta-carotene, vitamin E, omega-3s, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  3. Microwave Popcorn
The expert: Olga Naidenko, PhD, a senior scientist for the Environmental Working Group states: Chemicals, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), in the lining of the bag, are part of a class of compounds that may be linked to infertility in humans. In animal testing, the chemicals cause liver, testicular, and pancreatic cancer. Studies show that microwaving causes the chemicals to vaporize -- and migrate into your popcorn.

  4. Nonorganic Potatoes
The expert: Jeffrey Moyer, chair of the National Organic Standards Board adds to this list: Root vegetables absorb herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides that wind up in soil. In the case of potatoes they're treated with fungicides during the growing season, then sprayed with herbicides to kill off the fibrous vines before harvesting. After they're dug up, the potatoes are treated yet again to prevent them from sprouting.

  5. Farmed Salmon
The expert: David Carpenter, MD, director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University at Albany advises: Nature didn't intend for salmon to be crammed into pens and fed soy, poultry litter, and hydrolyzed chicken feathers. As a result, farmed salmon is lower in vitamin D and higher in contaminants, including carcinogens, PCBs, brominated flame retardants, and pesticides such as dioxin and DDT.

  6. Milk Produced with Artificial Hormones
The expert: Rick North, project director of the Campaign for Safe Food at the Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, has this advice: Milk producers treat their dairy cattle with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH or rBST, as it is also known) to boost milk production. But rBGH also increases udder infections and even pus in the milk. It also leads to higher levels of a hormone called insulin-like growth factor in milk. In people, high levels of IGF-1 may contribute to breast, prostate, and colon cancers.

  7. Conventional Apples
The expert: Mark Kastel, codirector of the Cornucopia Institute on says the following: If fall fruits held a "most doused in pesticides contest," apples would win. And increasing numbers of studies are starting to link a higher body burden of pesticides with Parkinson's disease.

That's the list shown, but I have a few more, perhaps not quite as important, but they do improve your health in small ways at least.
  1. Avoid most artificial sweeteners
The only "safe" artificial sweetener is saccharine (the one in the red bags). NutraSweet and Sweeta (in the blue and yellow bags) are both dangerous to your health, and have even killed some. Stevia has also been used safely for a long time and is now coming into the market in soft drinks. The data shows clearly that people who drink "diet drinks" do not lose weight.

  2. Avoid corn sweeteners (dextrose, fructose, etc)
More and more data is showing that these sweeteners found in all too many foods and candies today are not good for anyone, and may cause many different problems. Part of the problem is that all too often the corn is a mutated strain, not legally to be fed to humans, and another part is that man people are allergic to corn without knowing it. (If you have trouble with multivitamins, you may be.)

  3. Eggs and Butter
Eggs have gotten a lot of bad press, mostly wrong. Eggs are the most perfect food for humans, containing the correct mix of amino acids. The data shows that people who eat 4-6 eggs per week are in better health than those who eat none. Butter is another recipient of bad press re cholesterol. It is much better overall than any margarine, no matter what the advertising says.

  4. Sea salt vs Table Salt
Sea salt is not refined as far as table salt, and it contains some very small amounts of rare minerals that are needed for good nutrition. Table salt needs iodine added, and is refined so far as to remove small amounts of iron, zinc, magnesium, manganese, etc. Sea salt also tastes better according to most people.

All the above is about long term health. Now, if you want to get a lot healthier in a short time, here's a list of vitamin and mineral supplements that will help everyone to better mental health, and with some exercise added to physical health.
  1. Vitamin C
This is the most important vitamin as it does many jobs. It kills bacteria and viruses and removes all minerals in the blood. The RDA is only 75 mg per day for humans, and that is ridiculous. Other primates in a zoo get 4 grams per 150 pounds. MD's are "brainwashed" in Med school and by later Med Journals with lies from Big Pharma. Other animals manufacture vitamin C in their body as needed. That's why they can eat bacteria ridden food and not get sick. Primates cannot.

This world is getting more and more polluted. Up to 50% of all fruits and vegetables have arsenic pesticides on them. Mercury is in most fish, and from coal burning power plants, and most people have too much in their body. Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C takes these out gradually along with other minerals. It is important to use only the ascorbic acid (not ascorbate) form, as the ascorbate forms do NOT take out minerals. This form of Vitamin C is not only better for health, but much less expensive than chelation.

My advice is to use the cheapest form of ascorbic acid vitamin C (Costco), and start taking 2000mg (2 grams) at breakfast and another 2 grams at supper. If you are less than 100 pounds, 1 gram is OK )twice a day. Remember that it is impossible to cause problems with overdosing. Diarrhea is the only result.

  2. VM-75 (Solgar) multi
I have been taking this and advising it for 25+ years. It contains much over the RDA for the B vitamins which is needed for stress. It has a fair to good supply of the smaller minerals needed to replace those taken out by the vitamin C above. There is a new form that is half of the original in capsules, and is OK to use for children 5-12 once a day. I prefer the older one that is large. It is found in most independent vitamin shops.

  3. Additional Minerals
As mentioned above, vitamin C takes out all minerals, including the toxic ones, AND the ones needed for nutrition, so it's necessary to replace the needed ones. VM-75 does that for most of the minerals, but Calcium and Magnesium are both needed in large quantities, so it's impossible to get them into one pill. The books recommend a 2/1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, but I have found that this is wrong! It is not possible to overdose on magnesium, but an excess of calcium causes all sorts of problems. So, I recommend a minimum of 200 mg of each in the Citrate form.

  4. Additional Supplements
There are lots of other Alternative health supplements that will help with various problems, including the aging problem (which starts at about 19). These include vitamin E for antioxidant and heart, vitamin D for depression and many other problems. There's much more on these in my book "The Health Revolution (free to download for all members of my newsletter).

  5. Solving Allergy Caused Mental Problems
There are a lot of people who have many unknown allergies causing all types of physical and mental problems, up to and including, schizophrenia and depression of all types. Such allergies not only may be the primary cause of such, but each adds to the overall allergy stress. Either Neurofeedback/EEG Biofeedback or Neuroliminal Training gradually solve allergy problems. The main difference is that NT is affordable ($147 total), and is done while sleeping. Neurofeedback/EEG Biofeedback requires a minimum of 10-30 times that. Both raise the SMR brain wave which gradually changes allergy affect.
